"The Swirls Around the World Foundation is a nonprofit organization, honoring the life and legacy of Matthew “Swirls” Cirelli who passed away at the age of 19 on December 8th, 2013 after battling Ewing Sarcoma. The mission of the foundation is to honor Matthew’s legacy by embracing his courage, spirit, and kindness by paying it forward. The foundation pays it forward by supporting children, teens, young adults battling cancer through the delivery and shipment of monthly Swirls Packages of Love, organizing special Swirls Warrior Days for children and their families, and by donating gifts and packages to patients receiving care at Massachusetts General Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Center, where Matt was treated. The foundation also honors Matthew’s legacy each year at the local high school he attended through the Matthew “Swirls” Cirelli Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is granted to high school graduates each year to assist in pursuing their dream of going to college; a dream that Matt was unable to achieve due to his cancer diagnosis."
